Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working in a self propelled extendible boom aerial lift and were not utilizing an appropriate fall arrest system. Ozinga Concrete Plant jobsite - Employee working in aerial lift approximately 19 feet above grade was exposed to fall hazards. A fall arrest system was not utilized. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms and, 1) Require employees to utilize a fall arrest system every time they are in an aerial lift.
