Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working in a self propelled extendible boom aerial lift and were not utilizing an appropriate fall arrest system. 270 North Grove jobsite - Employees working in aerial lift approximately 30 feet above grade were exposed to fall hazards. Fall arrest systems were not utilized. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI 92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms and, 1)Require employees to utilize a fall arrest system every time they are in an extendible boom aerial lift. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
