Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish
a place of employment which was free of recognized hazards that were
likely to cause serious
physical harm or death in that employees were exposed to collapse related
hazards.
Nature's Point Subdivison jobsite.  Employees taking and marking
measurements with stakes
near a soil pile were exposed to collapse related hazards.  One employee
suffered fatal injuries
and another suffered severe internal injuries when the soil pile collapsed
onto them.
Among feasible means of abatement would be to:
1)  Slope the pile to the safe angle of repose before working near it.
2)  Stay clear from the soil pile.
3)  Remove the soil pile.
N. Eola Road & Liberty Street jobsite - Employees were exposed to the
hazard
of
moving ground when exiting the end of the double trench box.
