North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)within the cooker/grease extractor area of the facility, a hand operated chain hoist was observed without rated load weight capacities, manufacturer's identification and manufacturer's model or serial number. b)within the cooker/grease extractor area of the facility, two ratchet chain hoist/pullers were observed, without rated load weight capacities, manufacturer's identification, manufacturer's model or serial number and hook latches. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate the hazard is to insure hoists are maintained according to ANSI B30.16-1981, Chapter 16-1, Sections 16-1.1.1, 16-1.1.3. & 16.1.2.9.
