Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee was exposed to struck-by hazard: a. Shop area - On or about July 12, 2002, the employer did not ensure that the recoiler was maintained and operated in a safe manner, thereby exposing employees to struck-by hazards. Among other feasible and acceptable means of correcting this hazard are to comply with the provision referenced in ANSI B11.18-1997, sections 9.2.2 and 9.5.
