Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to rotating blades: a) Production Floor- The Dayton Model 3Z981 Band saw was not equipped with a magnetic restart or similar device, as prescribed by the American National Standards Institute, ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. b) Shipping and Receiving- The Rockwell Int. Model 28200 Band Saw was not equiped with a magnetic restart or similar device, as prescribed by the American National Standards Institute, ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. One feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by ANSI B11.10-1990. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d)
