(a), Code of Virginia: The employer, Appomattox County School Bus Garage, did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing, or likely to cause, death or serious physical harm to employees in that there were no safety devices (i.e. non-rotator and safety legs capable to hold ) on the Globe Two Post Bus & Truck Hoist, Type CR-210-A4. "One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to ensure that an automated mechanical device, having a safety factor of three based on the rated load capacity, be provided to hold the lift in the fully extended position at rated load capacity (See American National Standard, ANSI, B153.1-1974, paragraph 3.1.10).h

"One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to ensure that a safety latch is used to bridge the throat opening of the latch (See American National Standard, ANSI, B30.10-1975, paragraph 10-1.3.1)
