Title 40.1-51.1 (a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: At the Grey Area along the east wall, guards were not installed on the foot controls of seven hydraulic power presses SN: 00246, 00245, 00244, 00243, 00242, 00241, 00240, being used for pressing aluminum window frames, exposing operators to amputation hazard if the power press were inadvertently actuated while the operators' fingers were at the point of operation. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD, AMONG OTHERS, TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: Provide a guard for the foot controls to prevent unintended operation which may be caused by falling or moving objects or by accidental actuation of the control by the operator.
