Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to a fall hazard and a thrown-from hazard of approximately 20
feet:
(a)On or about June 24 2002, at the jobsite, located at the Holiday
Inn Express, 13339 Hospitality Court, Sturtevant, WI, workers (2)
while applying stucco on the north elevation at the 3rd floor roof
line were elevated in a JLG Boom-Supported Elevating Work
Platform, Model 600A, and were exposed to injuries from falls
due to the lack of personal fall protection devices.  This exposed
employees to a fall hazard of 20 feet to the sidewalk.
A feasible means of abatement among others, would be to comply
with the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) A92.5-1992
Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms which
requires workers to wear personal fall arrest equipment whenever
in an aerial lift.
No certification required.  Violation Abated.
