Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:   The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that: the
employee was exposed to a fall hazard and a thrown from hazard of 18 feet
to sidewalk.
(a)On or about June 26, 2002, at the jobsite located at 193 N.
Broadway, Milwaukee, WI, an employee working from a
extendible boom aerial lift, was exposed to injuries from falls due
to the lack of personal fall protection devices as required by the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI A92.5-1992)
Standard for Boom Supported Elevated Work Platforms.
Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A92.5-1992,
Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms and have
employees wear personal fall arrest equipment anytime that they
are elevated in a Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platform.
No certification required.  Violation Abated.on
