Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards created by crane and/or crane component failure do to lack of required inspections: a)Frequent and periodic inspections of the underhung cranes were not conducted as required by American National Standards Institute Standard B30.11, paragraphs 11-2.1.2 and 11-2.1.3, which exposed the employees to the hazards created by crane and/or crane component failure. Feasible and acceptable abatement for this violation is to: 1.Provide for training of one or more employees on the performance of the required inspections and have that/those employees perform the inspection. 2.Contract with a certified crane inspector or crane inspection company to perform the required inspections. Certification, with date and method of abatement required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling loads from underhung cranes due to lack of required wire rope inspections: a)The wire rope on the underhung cranes was not inspected as required by American Standards Institute Standard B30.11, which exposed employees to the hazards created by wire rope failure. Feasible and acceptable methods to abate this hazard are: 1.Provide for training of one or more employees on the performance of the required inspection and have that/those employees perform the inspection. 2.Contract with a certified crane inspector or crane inspection company to perform the required inspections. Certification, with date and method of abatement required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.
