Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of over loaded hoists: a)The weight limits of the following chain hoists were not properly labeled on the hoists per the requirements of ANSI Standard B30.16, OVERHEAD HOISTS, paragraph 2.1.1.1; 1)The rail on 1453 blaster hoist was labeled at 2000 pound capacity when the chain hoist was rated at 1000 pounds. 2)The jib on PS27 hoist in the spin room was labeled at 1 ton capacity when the chain hoist was rated at 1000 pounds. No certification required. Violation Abated.on
