Minn. Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees: Strong acids and bases which come in 55 gallon drums are used for cleaning metals before they are painted in the wash room. Accidental mixture of acids and bases (at these concentrations 32of HCL, 45of KOH) can result in violent thermal reactions that can cause serious chemical burns and release of toxic gases. These chemicals are stored next to each other in the wash room and dispensed by manual operated pumps into 5- gallon buckets.
