Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:06/06/02 Location:Pickling Area Equipment:Eyewash/Shower Station Condition:The eyewash station provided where an employee immersed steel wire rolls into a dip tank of Muriatic (Hydrochloric) Acid, a corrosive material, had a defective handle. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide an operational eyewash facility that provides 15 minutes of continuous flushing. The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective and efficient abatement during the inspection.
