Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: The employer failed to provide training mats for use during Expandable-Straight Baton training in the following location: a.Training/Classroom at 555 East Washington Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89101 Reference: Nevada Department of Public Safety, Expandable-Straight Baton Basic Course Lesson Plan written by the Nevada Department of Public Safety Defensive Tactics Committee and revised in January of 2002. The Items and Materials List requires that instructors provide training mats when a room is used for training. One feasible and acceptable abatement, among others, is to require that instructors take training mats with them to the class whether it is inside or outdoors. This would allow for inclement or unsuitable weather conditions.
