Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees:
RV and boat storage facility construction site, 1750 East I-30, Rockwall,
Texas:
On or about February 26, 2004, at least two employees, who were
transported and lifted to
elevated work areas while standing on the forks of a rough-terrain
lift-truck, were exposed to
the hazards of falling to the lower levels, and being struck and/or
crushed-by the moving lift
truck.
Among other methods, recognized and feasible means of abatement to correct
these hazards
include, but are not limited to:
a.Provide and utilize a ladder at all personnel points of access where
there
is a break in
elevation 19-inches or more; and/or
b.Provide and utilize an approved work platform as specified by the
manufacturer of the
lift-truck.
