Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from defective wood trusses: On or about 04/15/02, at the north central side of a house under construction, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working from a wood truss which was not checked for defects. Among other methods of abatement, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to have both sides of the wood trusses inspected prior to allow employees to work from the structural members. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
