Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards:
(a)On or about 06/05/02, employees sanding on the top of the fuselage of
an AirTran DC-9
aircraft were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 25 feet without
being "tied-off".
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is
for employees
to "tie-off" to a rope provided in Avborne's hanger #2 for that purpose.
PLEASE NOTE:  CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT
IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
