Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to equipment use
without adequate
training:
On or about 5-31-02, the employer did not ensure during the cleaning
operation of a P-305
concrete pump an employee who was exposed to moving parts followed the
Operator's Manual
Instructions.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method is:
Ensure that employees cleaning the P-305 exhaust valve must use water jet
and the supplied rake
as required by the operation manual, page 45, section 10.3.
PLEASE NOTE:  CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
