Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees who operated working platforms, i.e. scissors lifts, were exposed to being caught between heavy equipment. On or about 03/31/03, employees who operated working platforms, i.e. scissor lifts, and were not trained in the recognition of, and preventive measures for the safety hazards associated with their individual work tasks of moving the machines by manual control. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow and implement ANSI A 92.6-1990, Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms, Section 8.5, which requires only properly trained personnel shall be permitted to operate the aerial platform. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
