Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to thermal burns by an oven which was being used to heat materials at the facility. The oven was attached to a Yardage machine and the operating temperature of the oven was approximately 185 0F. Among other methods, one acceptable and feasible means of abatement would be to install barrier guards or similar protection to prevent accidental contact. This occurred on or about 12/6/2002. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
