four outriggers/stabilizers were not utilized when an employee was working
from an aerial
lift :
(A)Job Site: On 26 September 2002, an employee was observed working from a
truck-mounted aerial lift approximately 16 feet above an asphalt parking
lot.
All four outriggers on the truck had not been deployed to stabilize the
load as
required by the manufacturer.
ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD, AMONG OTHERS, TO
CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO:
Follow the manufacturer's requirement to employ all outriggers/stabilizers
when
working from the aerial lift.
Note: Abatement certification and supporting documentation are required
for this item.
