What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. Opening or conducting an inspection is not itself an allegation or a finding that this employer broke any rule; any findings appear as the citations listed below, and citations can be contested, reduced, or withdrawn.

employees employment and
a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or were
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his/her employees from
exposure to
Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) without pre-placement and annual medical
examinations to
rule out the employee's sensitization to HDI. The National Institute for
Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH), as well as chemical producers of HDI, recommend (through
MSDS
information provided with the chemical purchase) to the employers that
medical surveillance,
including pre-placement and annual medical exams, be conducted to prevent
exposing sensitized
employees to HDI.

provide medical surveillance for employees who were being exposed to

employees
and applied within a spray booth in a semi-automatic process, which
required
paint technicians to enter the booth while the spraying was in progress.
