North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees working on power lines when portable generators are used are exposed to hazard of electric shock: a)pump station #16, portable electric generator used during power outages is connected to the electric circuit without disconnecting the electric circuit from the main electric supply which can cause the power lines to become energized. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abating this violation is to install a double-pole, double throw transfer switch.
