General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the occupational safety and health act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to severe crushing hazards from jersey barriers falling over on top of employees feet. Location: The job site. An employees left foot was severely crushed resulting in the amputation of half of his foot when a jersey barrier that was placed on a pile of snow and ice fell over on top of his foot. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method would be to follow Modern Continental's job hazard analysis item 5a dated 9/25/03 and revised 2/21/03.
