Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an impalement and/or an explosion hazard from improper use of the TrackFast fastener: a)Worksite, Area 23 hanger addition entrance- An employee using a TrackFast fuel- actuated fastener did not have adequate training. The employee was unfamiliar with the training requirements and the components of the TrackFast fastener. The employee's lack of knowledge places the operator and other employees in the area at risk of being impaled by projectiles from the fastener and/or possible explosions from the fuel being used or stored incorrectly.
