Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:06/03/03 Location:Machine Shop Condition:A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe was used to transport compressed air at 90 p.s.i. to the machine shop and application labs. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to encase the PVC pipes in shatter-resistant conduit (preferably metal or ABS material) of sufficient strength to provide protection from external damage and deterioration.
