Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to hot molten, liquified, plastic:
(a)On or about 8/15/02 in the Vista Print Department; an employee was
seriously injured while retrieving small cardboard boxes of business cards
from underneath a conveyor when his hair became entangled in the sprocket
and coupling drive.   There was no emergency stop button or trip wire.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
condition is to:
1) Enforce the ANSI B20.1-1996 Standard, section 5.11.2(c) which requires
automatically and remotely controlled conveyors to be furnished with
emergency
stop buttons, pull cords, limit switches, or similar emergency stop
devices.
