AS 18.60.075(a)(4): Safe employment. An employer shall do everything necessary to protect the life, health, and safety of employees including, but not limited to: furnishing to each employee employment and a place of employment that are free from recognized hazards that, in the opinion of the commissioner, are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to the employees. EXAMPLE: The employer did not provide a safe and healthful workplace when over pressurization from a nitrogen purge in a 28 inch pipe blew the vapor barrier plug out, which struck and killed an employee instantly. The employer should have used a low pressure gauge, this could have warned of the impending danger.
