North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)University City Seventh Day Adventist Church jobsite, on September 19, 2002, employees were setting and installing 63'2" span wooden roof trusses without adequate bracing to prevent collapse as recommended by the Truss Plate Institute HIB-91 Summary Sheet. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard would be: 1. Follow the design and installation recommendations for adequate bracing per the Truss Plate Institute HIB-91 Summary Sheet. 2. Consult a Registered Professional Engineer for bracing designs and procedures.
