Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazard at the thirty three foot level when installing siding from the platform of a boom supported elevating work platform. (a)North Side, Sweet Street Dessert Addition - An employee was working thirty three (33) feet above the ground from an Omni Quip boom supported elevated work platform. The employee did not use a personal fall arrest system while working from the lift, on or about August 19, 2003. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard includes using a personal fall arrest system, with the lanyard attached to the boom or basket of the personnel lift, as outlined in the American National Standards Institute safety standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms (ANSI/SIA A92.5-1992)
