Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to a potential explosion hazard:
(a)3401 Hartzdale Drive - The employees were exposed to a potential
explosion
hazard while attempting to light a hot water heater with a malfunctioning
pilot
light, on or about January 8, 2003.
VERIFICATION REQUIRED
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
included replacing the hot water heater, replace malfunctioning
components, provide the correct
ventilation as outlined in the American National Standards Institute
safety standard for gas water
heaters(ANSI Z21.10.1 1964).
