Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a. On or about August 22, 2003, in the Shop area, employees required to work under fully- extended hydraulic lifts with defective safety devices were exposed to the hazard of being struck- by an automobile or caught-between the floor and an automobile in the event of mechanical and/or hydraulic failure of the lift. One feasible method of abatement for this hazard: Refer and conform to the listed requirements for safe operation, inspection, and maintenance in the "American National Standards for Automobile Lifts (ANSI/ALI ALOIM - 2000)".LI
