Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falls and being struck by material handling equipment in low visibility areas: a) On or about 10 Dec 2003 an employee fell from a ladder of a crane when the crane unexpectedly started moving. This area was poorly lighted which delayed the employee being found. Among other methods to correct this condition would be to install addition light to provide a minimum of 10 foot candles of lights as recommended by American Nation Standard Practice for Industrial lighting RP-7 for Storage and transfer areas.er
