Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard while operating powered industrial trucks. a) Warehouse/Shipping & Receiving - Operators were observed not using the provided seatbelts while operating powered industrial trucks. On or about 01/13/03. One feasible and acceptable abatement method is to comply with the requirements of ASME B56.1-1993.5.3.19 and require that employees use the provided restraints while operating powered industrial trucks. NOTE:ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM. Attached form or equivalent must be submitted. See page 2,"Notification of Corrective Action" for instructions.
