Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to chemical burns: (a) Location - 60-80 Hope Avenue, Waltham, MA: On or about 06/29/04, employees were exposed to serious hazards while operating welders with damaged batteries. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable, to correct this hazard, include but not limited to: 1. Conduct training on the safe use of welders and their parts 2. Conduct daily inspections of the welders as required in ANSI Z49.1 - 1967.
