Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to a systemic poison, blindness or death. a) Location - worksites On or about 09/16/05, employees working with hydrofluoric acid were not provided necessary first aid supplies. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable, to correct this hazard would be to ensure that an appropriate combination of first aid treatment supplies for skin and eye contamination with hydrofluoric acid are available at jobsites where hydrofluoric acid is used. First aid treatments include but are not limited to: calcium gluconate gels, benzalkonium chloride solutions, proparacaine hydrochloride solutions, aqueous calcium gluconate solutions, and saline irrigation solutions.
