Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely
to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees servicing a clutch
were exposed to caught-
in hazards:
On or about 02/06/03, in the southeast corner of the mechanic's shop,
employees were exposed
to the hazard of being caught-in between the transmission and the clutch
assembly while
replacing the clutch on a mixer truck without having attached and properly
secured the
transmission to the transmission jack.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct this hazard
is to follow the equipment manufacturer's procedures to properly secure
the transmission to the
transmission jack.
PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
