Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injuries/amputations: a)The employer did not ensure that the Automotion Conveyor in the production area was operative and in good repair as required by ANSI B.20.1-1957, Section 8.801 and Section 8.806. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to 1) periodically inspect the entire conveyor mechanism, and 2) ensure that all safety devices are operative and in good repair.ve
