Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught between hazards. A.) On or about 10-29-03, at Griffith Labs at 6601 Griffith Way, employees working in the Finished Goods Warehouse at the stretch wrap in feed conveyor were exposed to being caught in the rollers and not being able to reach the emergency shut off for the conveyor as the emergency shut off button was located on the opposite side from the employees' work station. One method of abatement is to relocate the emergency shut off button to the employee work station area. Reference - ANSI-BZO.1 - Safety standard for conveyors and related equipment, Section 5.11.2(c)(1).
