Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized
hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to PVC pipe used to transport compressed air.
"Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to:"
1. Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference
Plastic Pipe Institute
document).
2. Follow manufacturer recommendation on application.
On February 26, 2004 at 2827 Stone Mountain Lithonia Road, Lithonia,
Georgia: Compresssed
air distribution system for used cleaning sinks and counter tops.  The
type of PVC used is not
approved for compressed air.  Employees are exposed to struck by hazards.
