Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to PVC pipe used to transport compressed air. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to:" 1. Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference Plastic Pipe Institute document). 2. Follow manufacturer recommendation on application. On or about 05/18/04 at 2474 Georgia Highway 332, Hoschton, GA: Employees were exposed to explosive hazards, while operating compressed air in the trim / hard surface shop. The compressed air was supplied through PVC pipe, which is an explosive hazard.ve
