Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of contact with a moving saw blade: a) The Rollin-Bandsaw was not equipped with magnetic restart or similar devices, as prescribed by the American National Standards for Metal Cutting Saws, ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by ANSI B11.10-1990. Abatement documentation required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
