North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees:
a)jobsite, an employee was operating a long boom within 10
feet of a 7200 volt to 12470 volt power line.

Electrocution Hazards 2nd paragraph which states
"Maintain safe distances from electrical power
lines and apparatus in accordance with applicable
governmental regulations and the following chart.
The chart states that for a voltage range of 300V
to 50KV the minimum safe approach distance
(M.S.A.D.) is 10 feet or 3.05 meters.
2)Genie Responsibilities Manual Page 10, Table 1
states for a voltage range of 300V to 50KV the
M.S.A.D. is 10 feet or 3.05 meters.
NOTE:  Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable
method to correct this hazard is to re-train any operator
to ensure he understands the minimum safe approach
distance to energized power lines.
