furnish employment
and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:06/12/03
Condition:Where the employees are required to work with and around
batteries
which contain corrosive material, which has a pH of less than 2, there
was not a properly functional eyewash station present at the location to
provide the employees with a continuous 15 minute flushing of the eye,
if necessary.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to increase the water pressure to ensure that the eyewash station will
be able to provide a
15 minute continuous flow to both eyes.
