Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Production Area, East end - the Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw, Model Number 9A-W, serial number 1152 was not equipped with a magnetic restart or similar device as prescribed by the American National Standards for Metal Cutting Saws, ANSI B11.10-1990 , section 5.2.3.4 that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply, would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item. (b) Tool Shop, North wall - the Do All vertical bandsaw, no model or serial numbers, was not equipped with a magnetic restart or similar device as prescribed by the American National Standards for Metal Cutting Saws, ANSI B11.10-1990, section 5.2.3.4 that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply, would prevent the sa from restarting automatically when power is restored. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
