Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to an amputation hazard, while cutting/chipping trees:
a)  8 Pinewood Terrace, Fairfield, NJ
Employer did not provide training in the use of Bush Chipper to
employees/day laborers who
were exposed to amputation hazards while cutting/chipping trees.
"Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
for employee to be trained in the use of Bush Chipper as per ANSI Z133.1
October 2000
Section 9.6.9 standard for Arboricultural Operations-Pruning, Repairing,
Maintaining, and
Removing Trees, and Cutting Brush Safety Requirements".
Violation observed on or about 05/07/03.
