January 11, 2005 the Geronimo line was not installed for employees to use
in case of an
emergency evacuation from the derrick board. The derrick board was located
fifty-five
feet (55') above the ground.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to provide an emergency escape means (such as a Geronimo Line)
for any
employee working from the derrick board, as specified by Section 6.10.1 of
the
American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard RP 54-1999, "Recommended
Practices for
Occupational Safety and Health for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing
Operations."
