Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:  Overloading the crane beyond its capacity and causing the
crane or load to fall or
collapse.  Among other methods or procedures, one feasible and acceptable
abatement method
to correct the hazard, is to follow the procedures, or come into
compliance with the American
National Standard Institute (ANSI) standard(s):  B30.11 - 1973 "Monorail
Systems and
Underhung Cranes".
***Certification AND Documentation of Abatement Required***
(a) Section 11-1.1.1: The rated load of the crane shall be plainly marked
on each side of the
crane bridge.
(b) Section 11-1.1.1: If the crane has more than one hoisting unit, each
hoist
shall be plainly
marked with its rated load. These markings shall be clearly legible from
the loading position.
