Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recogn ized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by an unsecured com pressed gas nitrogen cylinder: a)Room #122: The nitrogen cylinder was not secure d to prevent it from being knocked over, on or about 2/5/2004. Among other metho ds, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1 .Follow the Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, in that section 3.4.4 states Before using cylinder, be sure it is properly supported to prevent it fro m being knocked over. 2.Use a suitable cylinder truck, chain or other steadying device to keep cylinde rs from being knocked over.ed
